How do you launder your clothing in general? Part of why I hesitate to buy very high quality clothing is because it often gets ruined in the wash, even if I wash on delicate. I am especially wondering how you handle this during travel.
For any time but particular travel I always take Traditional Savon de Marseille with me. I use it for bites, hand washing and basically anything else I’ve forgotten eg shampoo!
oh no! What happens? what do you mean by ruined? personally, I wash on a short cycle with gentle detergent or a hand wash for things like wool and silk. Very simple approach really. Anything dry clean like coats I take once a year which seems to be fine.
glad you enjoyed it! I’ve had a silk pillowcase for years now because of how good they are for skin and hair, plus they feel super sensual too. Favourites come from either Slip or Zara Home. When I don’t use one I notice a difference in my face and hair when I wake up. I have more sleep lines an my hair is more knotted / course x
Love this, thanks for the great advice, we are headed to Florence for a long weekend and this will come in very handy - I hate packing and am rubbish at making concise lists lol
I love this, thank you! I’m off to Florence & Tuscany in a couple of weeks and decided to go carry on only. A couple of things… I’ve just bought a film camera, how would you recommend getting it through security without damaging the film? Also, any tips for travelling solo for the first time? I’m starting to get nervous about navigating my way around and not getting stressed if I get lost!x
Exciting! Hope you have the best time. Camera wise it should all be ok no problem. I imagine you’ll just have to put it in a tray for scanning at the airport. Other than that make sure it’s wrapped in your bag or case (underwear works well) x
If you’re worried I’d just ask the security guys and explain how you feel. I’m sure they’ll be able to help or share previous experiences. Don’t suffer in silence x
Have the most wonderful time! When I saw your mood board I wondered if you’d read My Brilliant Friend ☺️ Look forward to watching your vlogs. We are planning a trip to Rome next year x
Love this! How do you handle travel with Hope? Do you bring her food or buy it there? Does she have her own bag for blanket, toys, etc? :) We travel with our dogs all the time but only with our camper -- I'd love to do something like this with them!
She’s a light traveller too haha. I brought her lead, harness and passport with very little else. I know I can pick up food and poop bags locally and I try to plan times away from home around her meal times so she’s had her breakfast and can have her dinner when we arrive. Water wise I just ask for an empty paper cup either on the train or at the station and fill it with fountain water so she’s never dehydrated. Travelling with pooches is just the best, I love having her here with me.
It takes her a few days to settle into a new place so she’s with me all the time then - but Italy and France are very dog friendly so it’s ok. Once she’s adjusted she’ll take or leave coming with me when I go out. The only places she absolutely can’t go are museums but I’m only ever there for a couple of hours so it’s ok. I guess it depends on the dog, your itinerary, the country your in and their fitness level
Hope you have the best time! I'm off to Japan for 12 days and can only bring a carry-on so need to make some good packing plans this weekend. What trainers do you like for lots of daily walking around cities? I need a new pair and have been thinking about switching to something new.
Thank you! Japan is on my list too and has been for so long. Trainers wise I’m loving the Sezane’s I added to my capsule wardrobe recently. There’s a link in my latest capsule wardrobe vlog. They’re so comfy without being bulky!
Love this - would love to see a picture or even a video? I completely mis-judged the weather on my trip to Spain in Feb and ended up with half a suitcase I couldn't wear🙈 deffo need to revisit the idea of a capsule wardrobe. I've started buying shampoo and soap in the destination so long as there is a health food shop in the town. The thing I seem to struggle with is suppliments - they are so bulky!
I will share in a vlog for sure. Weather is such a tricky one right?! I was really worried when I got to Rome and it was chilly but it's warming up now. Supplements wise what I did was count out exactly what I needed and put them all into one bottle. It saved so much space!
That's exactly what I do with supplements. I count them out and put them all in one bag. If I'm going for longer than a month, I count out a week's worth of supplements and buy the rest at my location. Also if I'm traveling to a place for more than a week, I buy toileries at my destination. It saves a lot of space and weight (Air France weighs all your carry on which the total cannot exceed 12 kg). That way I discover new items.
I always aspire to travel light and love the idea of it. Somehow I still always end up overpacking!! 🤷♀️ And now with a baby in tow, I fear it will a whole other ball game…! Here for your beautiful Italian content though, I hope it all goes well for you 🙌💕
haha do you plan out outfits before? this can help a lot. I'm forever amazed at just how much babies need, as well as all the extras you didn't know you needed for them. thank you! lots more to come...
I love this. It's a great list. I didn't travel often, but dream of it. If I make an adventure like this someday, I'll be keeping this in mind for sure
This is the only way to travel. 😊
Pack light and small. A single small cabin baggage size suitcase is enough to take everything I might need.

Great read 🤗 I‘d love to learn more about the silk pillowcase. x

Thank you! Hopefully that will be fine! I’ve heard of the scanners ruining the film and don’t want to get home and have nothing on there x

Thank you! I’ll definitely do that! This trip will certainly be pushing me out of my comfort zone that’s for sure!x
You should be fine, in all the years I flew I never had a problem with film being damaged by airport scans
Ahh that’s amazing! Thank you so much!
So life enhancing getting rid of stuff, and travelling with a small bag , that’s all one really needs!

Oh I’m devouring it, just so good! Did you enjoy? Hope the Rome vlog gave some ideas, I think I’ll do a slow guide to Rome on here too x

I go to Paris in a few weeks and for the first time ever taking only carry on luggage!
