Hello you!
The light is about to return. I wonder what it bring for you?
This week on (Friday 22 December) welcomes the longest darkest night and after this we will start to see minutes added on to our days of sunlight. Hooray!
Winter solstice is a powerful time. It promises new beginnings, change and is the ideal time for inner reflection, to be with ourselves in the dark knowing the light is about to return. It’s a natural time for us to dive into our deepest darkest parts without fear and then let go; make plans for what’s about to come to us. New life, longer days, a new year.
I take solstices seriously. The celebration of nature and surrendering to it is both a grounding and humbling experience. Feeling like we’re part of something much bigger than ourselves brings perspective. Personally, I love feeling like I’m living in line with nature, moving with the rhythms of the earth instead of in accordance with modern society, which I rarely feel akin to.
I wanted to share ten journal prompts with you for to use this winter solstice. As always feel free to take what serves you and leave what doesn’t. If you do wish to celebrate solstice but you’re not sure where to start it can be as simple as sitting down with some pen, paper and a candle. If you want to take things further you could cook a nourishing warm meal, go outside in nature, gather branches and bring them home to make a display, meditate, do a yoga flow - this one specifically for winter solstice is perfect.
The most important thing is to be present, notice the changes in nature and reflect before everything changes again. My hope is these journal prompts will help you do just that.
