Hello you!
There are plenty of guides on Paris. I don’t profess to be an expert or have any secrets but these are the places where my story unfolded and I want to share them with you. From the benches where I’d sit and contemplate life to the museums which housed the art that inspired me the most, each recommendation is one I think you’d enjoy. Should you find yourself in Paris use the following as a little black book perhaps, but above all else let Paris take hold of you. She knows the way and you’d be a fool to assume you know better. If you’re not likely to find yourself in Paris any time soon, I hope you enjoy a scroll through some photos I also wanted to share.

Benches
Place Dauphine: A secluded square you wouldn’t know was there unless you went looking for it, this place is peppered with benches perfect for people watching. You’ll be watching Parisians more than locals. I’d watch them play bowls, walk their dogs or catch up over coffee.
Places des Vosges: I’d go here most days. At the centre is a garden with a fountain and if the weather is good you can sit on the grass as well as the benches. It comes alive at the weekends with locals but it just as spectacular in the week when it’s quieter. The perfect spot to eat a croissant from Land & Monkeys around the corner.
Quai de Bourbon Ile Saint-Louis: My favourite bench in Paris. From here you can see the Seine, the Eiffel Tower and a display of quintessential Parisian buildings. If you want to see it at its best go at sunset. I lost count of how many photos I took for couples here. It’s the most romantic setting.
Palais Royal: A haven in the middle of the city, there’s no bad time to visit and no bad bench to sit on. This is the place I’d always head for to escape the crowds and catch my breath when I found myself in the centre and feeling overwhelmed.
Place Saint Sulpice: Not technically a bench as it’s the fountain that sparkles here but there are a few benches around depending which view you prefer. Treating yourself to a macaron from Pierre Herme across the street (or Laduree up the road if they’ve sold out of vegan) is the simplest but most satisfying of pleasures.
Cafes
Cafe Foufou: Inside or outside this place is a delight. I didn’t eat here but I had lots of food envy as the plates of food were served to those next to me. It’s a great place to enjoy a tea and bring your laptop to work from. The park opposite is also a pretty place to wander or have a sit down.
10 Rue Oberkampf, 75011
Cafe St Regis: A firm favourite for many years, if you’re in need of a good meal or pretty spot to sit and you’re close by then it’s always a good idea to head here. This is where I had the best vegan burger during the whole month I was there.
6 Rue Jean du Bellay, 75004
