Hello you!
I’m keeping this week’s letter short, snappy and to the point, The ever divisive Black Friday is almost upon us and I wanted to share my personal Black Friday manifesto for anyone who like me has struggled with emotional spending. These are the questions I ask myself on the regular before I commit to a purchase to keep shopping a slow and intentional process. They work.
As such, consider the following questions before making any purchases
Would I still buy this at full price?
Can I afford this?
Is this a need or a want item?
Is this something I could purchase from a small independent maker instead and it still be affordable for me?
What would be the implications of not buying this?
Am I actually getting a good deal or just shopping my feelings?
Hopefully you’ll find yourself feeling a little bit more conscious about what you buy as a result and you’ll buy less but better. Sure there are deals to be had at this time of year but this is also when we’re most preyed upon by the never ending consumerism hamster wheel. If you’ve got any questions to add please do so in the comments so we can all add them to our list.
Lots of love

What’s been adding value this week
Chatsworth House is all dressed up for Christmas and looks wonderful if you get the chance to visit
This post by Cait Flanders about how our hands move through the world in a week
Love these!
I also think to myself, “is this something I’ve been wanting for a long time? And would I still like it/want it in a year, two years, five years from now?”
Is it something I am willing to take care of?
Will it produce more rubbish in our planet? ( will it last?)
