What added value in June
Summer capsule wardrobe inspiration, starting life over again and reads to transform your heart
Hello you!
June has been spent moving into my new place. I kid myself every time a move is looming dubbing it not a big deal. It is a big deal. A very big deal! Our entire energy shifts when we move home and there’s a lot more work involved than we think. It’s also an expensive affair, even for renters.
Here’s what’s been adding value whilst I’ve been hanging curtains, scrubbing old sticker stains off windows and arranging furniture, before changing it all again.
Becoming Karl Lagerfeld is the first series I’ve binge watched over a weekend for a very long time. It’s advertised all over Paris and I’m in the middle of a Chanel obsession right now after plunging into Coco Chanel’s life story so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s in French which adds depth as the series unfolds in Paris and it’s beautifully filmed. The story of the high fashion scene during this time period is fascinating and I think you’ll really enjoy it as a different kind of watch to the usual.
The three questions game - ok so if you do this pllllllllease leave your answers in the comments. It was sent to me randomly and I found it so interesting. Mine were pink, horse and the ocean in case you were wondering.
Parisian vibe’s summer wardrobe video is a quick outfit inspiration video worth a watch. I’d say it’s accurate in terms of what I’m seeing strolling the streets of Paris.
All about love by Bell Hooks is a transformative read and if you watch my instagram stories you’ll see how much underlining I’ve been doing. It’s been one of those right books at the right time kind of reads. I love how Bell’s work focuses on love being a verb, something we do. Her insights and research are so heartfelt, delicate but foundational all at the same time.
The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer was a freebie on audible I’ve been enjoying. It feels like a lighter version of The Power Of Now, which I recommended a few months ago. The discussion around awareness, letting go is really interesting as well as actionable. It gave me a lot to think about and try in terms of healing.
